Each digit maps to one or more consonant sounds. String together the consonants for a number's digits, in order, then fill in any vowels you like to spell a real word — vowels carry no value. A memorable word is far easier to hold onto than a bare string of digits. The mapping goes by sound, not spelling: say the word out loud and listen for its consonants.
